Things to look out for in a Pet Hotel

Looking for a pet hotel?

It is the holiday season once again! Going on a vacation? However, who’s going to take care of your dog? Consider putting them up at a Pet Hotel like at Pawcation!

Here are some of the things you should look out for when entrusting your dog at a Hotel!

1. Cleanliness and tick prevention
2. Disease prevention.
3. Activities.
4. Staying connected.

Cleanliness and tick prevention.

Cleanliness of the facility is an extremely important factor to consider. At Pawcation, we have a daily cleaning schedule to ensure our facility is maintained in its top condition.
Ticks are extremely dangerous and can be hazardous to our pet’s health. That is why Pawcation has a strict rule, where all our guests must be on Frontline or some forms of tick and flea prevention treatments before they can board with us.

With our cleaning schedule and strict requirements for our guests, we can ensure a clean, healthy, tick free-living condition for our guests.

Disease prevention.

Pawcation requires our guests to be up to date with their vaccination requirements. Our guests need to show us the records from the vets. This is to ensure that our guests in our hotel are not only healthy but also resistant to diseases. We are extremely strict with our vaccination requirements at Pawcation we have turned many guests away because of the lack of vaccination proof.

For dogs under one year, the three puppy vaccinations are a must.

For dogs over one year, we require either
1.The yearly booster or
2. Vets certification that the antibodies levels are sufficient where the booster was not required.

In a case of emergencies, Pawcation would bring the dog to their primary vet practitioner for immediate treatment. If the client has insurance for their dogs, the cost of this emergency might reduce significantly, and the client should consider insurance before boarding, based on the needs of the client.

One important but often overlooked factor will be the activities at the pet hotel. All dogs need their daily exercise, and a lack of exercise will mean a lethargic and restless dog at night. You could find some of these restless dogs scratching on walls or pacing around the entire night without going to sleep.

At Pawcation, we have treadmill sessions where dogs are put on for exercise at least two times a day. During the day, our dogs are free to roam around while our trained staff supervise their whole day play sessions. What this means is that dog is well-exercised by evening and even though they return to their rooms at 7 pm, they are ready to have a good night sleep.

All the dogs at Pawcation need to go through a compulsory temperament test to ensure the safety of our staff and also to ensure the safety of our other guests during playtime. We only allow well-socialized dogs to board with us. With our trained staff and temperament test, you can be sure your dog will have a safe and fun time staying and playing at Pawcation.

Staying connected

Another factor to consider is whether the facility has remote camera access. Imagine leaving your dog a somewhere unfamiliar with no ways of knowing what’s happening.
At Pawcation, we have camera access that you can view from anywhere in the world. Just download the app, login and you can see your dog in its room. Also, throughout the day, our clients are kept updated about their dogs with a flood of photos. Our clients love the fact that they can see their dogs from the remote camera and also the constant updates from instant messaging.
