2025 Chinese New Year brought us another festive-period guest — Hiro, a Golden Retriever mix and the biggest furkid we’ve welcomed so far. Big, furry, sweet, and incredibly gentle, Hiro was truly a handsome gentle giant. He was so well-behaved that even my younger boy felt safe being alone with him.

At first, I thought walking a large dog might be challenging, especially if he got excited by other dogs or wanted to explore different directions. But all my worries disappeared quickly — Hiro was the easiest walking companion. Every walk felt like a peaceful, leisurely stroll, and his adorable looks made him a little celebrity in the neighbourhood.

Since it was the CNY holiday, we were home most of the time and spent many hours together. When Hiro got sleepy, he would quietly hop onto his bed — his way of telling us it was time to rest. Such a sweet boy with the best manners.

We truly hoped we’d get another chance to board him again. But due to unfortunate circumstances, Hiro has since crossed the rainbow bridge. Our hearts broke when we heard the news, but we also know he is now happy, free, and surrounded by many furry friends. Hiro, you were such a good boy, and we’re so grateful to have cared for you.
